Call for Entries The 2026 Stars of Texas exhibit is a juried fine arts exhibit which is open to Texas residents 15 and older. Eligibility Submitted entries must:
Be original
Not be done under supervision
Not be a copy of published work, including photographs, by a person other than the artist
Have been completed within the last three years
Not have been previously exhibited in a Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit
Be suitable for display to young students. (Nude subjects will not be accepted.)
Note Acceptance of artwork for consideration by the juror will be at the sole discretion of the committee. The decision of the entry qualifiers is final.
Acceptable Media
2d and 3d works in most disciplines, media, and combinations of media are accepted including:
Painting
Drawing
Printmaking
Photography
Digital/Computer-generated art
Sculpture
Note No crafts, quilts, stained glass, jewelry or video arts.
Liability Although utmost care will be taken to prevent damage, theft or loss, the the Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit assumes no liability for artwork accepted.
Digital Imagery Entering the Competition includes permitting us to use images of the works for archives and publicity purposes only.
Fees A non-refundable $25 entry fee per artwork must be paid upon delivery. The total number of entries is limited to a total of three (3) per artist. We accept credit cards, checks and cash. Checks must be made out to the Arts Council of Brownwood.

Sales All artwork must be for sale. All Sales will be handled through the Arts Council of Brownwood. A 25% commission will be charged for sales generated by the exhibit. This includes sales made directly after the show closes. If you need help pricing your piece you may contact the committee.
Size Requirements Works to be hung must be:
No larger than 54 inches per side (outside dimensions, including frame.)
No smaller than 8x10 inches (image size.)
Free-standing works must be:
Maximum size limited to 70 inches in any dimension and a weight of 100 lbs.
Minimum size must be five inches in at least one dimension.
Presentation Requirements
Works must be completely dry
Works to be hung must be sturdily framed or mounted, and be wired for conventional hanging.
No saw-tooth hangers
Artists must provide their own display stands for judging and display of free-standing work.
Note Very fragile and/or valuable works may not be suitable for this show. We suggest these works be enclosed and secured in plexiglass containers.
2026 Calendar of Events
Intake: Entries must be delivered to the Depot Civic and Cultural Center 600 Depot St. Brownwood, TX 78601 on Friday January 30, 2026 5-8 pm or Saturday January 31, 2025 9-12pm. Judging starts at 12pm. Results will be announced at 4pm. Results will be posted at the Depot and on social media.
Juror Event : Entries will be juried for acceptance first and then judged for awards. Accepted works will remain for the duration of the show. Works not selected must be picked up on Saturday, January 31, 2026 4-5pm. Digital Shoot-Out : Saturday January 31, 2026 10am to 4pm at the Brownwood Art Center (215 Fisk Ave.). Art Talk : Saturday, January 31st from 1:30-3:00pm at Brownwood Art Center (215 Fisk Ave.). This year’s talk will be given by Austin artist Randall Cogburn. Paint Off : February 21, 2026 9:30am to 3:30pm. Pickup : Exhibit Artwork may be picked up from Saturday February 21 from 4pm - 6pm or Sunday February 22 1:30-3pm. Salon Des Refuses : Works not accepted into the main show at the Depot may be taken to the Art Center and entered into the Salon Des Refuses show directly after judging. Entry is free with proof of entry into the Stars show. The Art Center is located at 215 Fisk Ave. These pieces will be on exhibit during the dates of the Stars exhibit and may be picked up Saturday, February 21st or Sunday, February 22nd.
